JARINA DE MARCO

In creating an affinity between genres, Jarina de Marco's genre-spanning behavior proves there are no creative boundaries. With folkloric ancestral sounds derived from African and Indigenous communities of the Dominican Republic and Brazil, and the deep Jazz and flirty pop that enamored her youth, Jarina de Marco's distinctive sound amplifies citizens of the world. Her contribution to the music industry and Latinx community is one that has made an impact. Motivated by her identity's layered realities and the political and social complexities in the community, the multilingual singer-songwriter, and visual artist can infuse various styles that transcend languages and borders and carry social consciousness.

She is a creative visionary who sings in four languages – English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French. Jarina spearheads all aspects of her project: songwriting, production, visual design, and video direction. She wrote, produced and starred in her series, "I'm Freakin' Pregnant Y'all". Her music has been supported by the STARZ breakthrough hit series VIDA, the trailer featured her song “Release The Hounds” which was written in solidarity with the people of Standing Rock. Episode 3 of VIDA starts with De Marco’s “Tigre” playing full blast during a highly publicized Latin queer sex scene, as covered by Vulture among other outlets. The new HBO series, Euphoria, also has also featured Jarina’s music in their first season. Her music was recently featured in Fast and Furious 9 soundtrack, featuring her song "Mala", and her song "Suéltate" featuring Anitta and Bia is in the new Sing 2 movie.
